5 years and counting

Friday, April 6, 2007 marks 5 years of marriage for my wife and I.  Five years, one child, two cities, 10 jobs, 12 passport stamps, 13 vehicles.

 How things add up.

Does your view of Jesus change around Easter?

It seems without exception that every time this season (Easter) comes around, my mind begins swirling with various images of Jesus and the cross.  From bloody crucifixion scenes, to the joyful triumphal entry, to the sober last supper, and to the victorious morning of the resurrection.  No one can escape these images and yet everyone needs to deal with them.

Our church is presenting a two part presentation on the life and death of Jesus for Palm Sunday and Easter weekend.  I had the opportunity this time to be involved in some of the writing of music and dramatical scenes.  I participated in creating an image of Jesus that many will see and experience for the next two weekends.  Did my efforts help?  Did my work take away from my Lord?  Those questions are not easily answered.

The outcome, hopefully, will be people confronting a Risen Savior and dealing with questions that only God’s word can answer.  May God move upon us.

Christian Education Metaphor

Dear Cohort 09,

Here is my metaphor and explanation.  If you have any suggestions, please let me know.  This was one assignment that I was very worried about.  You all have pinned me as a visualist and I didn’t want to let anyone down.

 Grace and peace.

Statements from the Wise

During a recent seminar, a wise and learned man said these words. “The voice of the Lord can come through any other believer or priest – a child, boss, subordinate, spouse, even an absolute stranger if they are in Christ.” Could we add “blogger” to the list? Can someone’s personal thoughts, comments, and posts actually be the voice of God to another believer? I think so. That is why I want to participate in the blogging community. You never know if what you have to say is going to help or encourage a fellow travler.

A new world awaits.

While reading tons of blogs, it became clear to me that I need to join the revolution and begin blogging myself. My blog domain is “fellow traveler” for multiple reasons: (1) I believe all of us are on a journey. I am but one traveler amongst many. (2) I am a committed follower of Christ and for that reason, the journey that I travel is marked by my faith and dependence on God. (3) Finally, I love traveling. If I had money, time, and more money, I would travel with my family all over the world. There is nothing quite like being lost in a foreign land. (If Rick Steve’s ever quits, I want his job.)

My desire is to post a couple times each week, but that will be determined by the demands of my family, church work and schooling. I look forward to connecting with each of you in the blog-o-sphere.
